Job summary

The Trinity County Resource Conservation District seeks a Fuels Program Manager to lead fuels reduction and forest health projects from concept to completion. You will coordinate with staff, cooperators, and partners, prepare budgets and reports, and manage grants.

This is a full-time supervisory role with flexible scheduling and comprehensive benefits. Ideal candidates bring 3+ years in natural resources project work, strong GIS skills, and the ability to work outdoors in rugged terrain.

Qualifications

  • Three years or more of direct professional experience in natural resources, developing, coordinating, and implementing resource-related projects, including managing project budgets and personnel, and writing detailed reports.
  • Tree species identification capability.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and ESRI ArcGIS, with the ability to effectively manage
  • Self-directed, with supervisory experience and the ability to prioritize and coordinate workload, both independently and as part of a
  • Ability to develop and maintain partnerships with landowners and other
  • ESRI ArcGIS or ArcPro software mapping experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and extremely excellent organizational
  • Problem-solving and research skills.
  • Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in rugged terrain and inclement weather.
  • Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, budget, and implement all phases of multifaceted fuels reduction projects, supervising staff and contractors and ensuring environmental compliance.
  • Direct supervision of two employees: fuels contracting coordinator and fuels crew supervisor.
  • Develop concepts for future projects and proposals, including grant writing.
  • Administer grants, meet deliverables, and report progress.
  • Assist with project contracts and amendments.
  • Develop detailed reports and presentations for projects.
  • Communicate with staff, the public, and external partners via reports and meetings.
  • Schedule, train, and assign tasks to staff for timely project completion.
  • Monitor projects, evaluate results, and recommend improvements.
  • Support other departments in program and project development.
  • Attend/lead meetings and field tours.
  • Other duties as assigned.
