Job summary

The McLane Company, Inc. is seeking a Fuel/Wash Teammate in Temple, TX to support the Transportation Department. The role starts at 12:00pm, Wed through Sun, with a pay rate of $17.75 per hour and opportunities to learn from experienced teammates.

You’ll fuel tractors, wash trailers, and coordinate with the shop to keep equipment clean, fueled, and safe. Candidates must be 18+, have a high school diploma or GED, and be able to read and write English. Background checks may apply.

Qualifications

• Must have basic mechanical aptitude and ability to operate a semi tractor on McLane property.
• Good reading and writing ability in English to understand safety instructions and work orders.
• Ability to work safely and follow procedures in a transportation environment.

Responsibilities

• Fuel tractors and trailer refrigeration unit tanks.
• Wash tractor trailers and facilities as required by Transportation Department.
• Coordinate with Yard Driver and shop to ensure trailers are clean, fueled, and mechanically sound.
• Note maintenance issues and forward to the shop mechanics.
• Keep fuel islands clean and safe, with proper warning signage.
• Work safely to prevent injuries and protect products and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Fuel/Wash Teammate handles various entry-level duties for the Transportation Department. Basic mechanical aptitude is a plus for this position.

What you’ll do as a Fuel/Wash Teammate:

• Fuel tractors and trailer refrigeration unit tanks.
• Wash tractor trailers as well as washing down Transportation Department facilities when required.
• Work with Yard Driver and transportation shop to ensure that tractor trailers are properly cleaned and fueled and mechanically sound.
• Make note of any maintenance issues and forward information to the shop Mechanics.
• Ensure that the fuel islands are maintained in a clean and safe manner, including proper warning signage as needed.
• Work safely to prevent injury to people and damage to products and equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications you’ll bring as a Fuel/Wash Teammate:

• At least 18 years of age.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to drive a semi tractor (will drive on McLane property only) and have knowledge/understanding of air brake operations.
• This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
