Job summary

Ceres Environmental Operations seeks a dedicated Fuel & Equipment Support Technician to fuel, inspect, and maintain equipment at project sites and yards. You will help ensure assets are ready for disaster response and environmental projects, driving safety and reliability across field operations.

Ideal candidates are mechanically inclined, dependable, and capable of working outdoors in varied conditions. Per diem and travel reimbursements apply where appropriate, with opportunities for travel

  • Basic mechanical knowledge or interest in equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Ability to accurately complete inspection forms, fueling records, and related documentation.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, mechanics, operators, and other team members.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and around heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Fuel various types of company vehicles, heavy equipment, grinders, support equipment, and aerial lift equipment at project sites and operational yards.
  • Inspect and replenish engine oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid, fuel, DEF, and other required operating fluids.
  • Grease equipment and perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to ensure proper operation and reduce wear.
  • Conduct daily visual inspections of equipment and report any deficiencies, damage, leaks, or maintenance concerns.
  • Maintain accurate fueling logs, equipment inspection forms, and service documentation.
  • Assist with equipment readiness and yard operations.

What We Are Looking For

Ceres Environmental Operations seeks a dedicated and safety-focused Fuel & Equipment Support Technician to support company operations by fueling equipment, performing routine service checks, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with the overall readiness of equipment and yard operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring company assets remain safe, operational, and prepared to support disaster response, debris management, grinding, recycling, and environmental services projects.

This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, and enjoys hands-on work in a fast-paced operational environment. Success in this role will be measured by equipment readiness, attention to detail, safety performance, quality documentation, and support of efficient field and yard operations.

What You Will Do
  • Fuel various types of company vehicles, heavy equipment, grinders, support equipment, and aerial lift equipment at project sites and operational yards.
  • Inspect and replenish engine oil, coolant, hydraulic fluid, fuel, DEF, and other required operating fluids.
  • Grease equipment and perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to ensure proper operation and reduce wear.
  • Conduct daily visual inspections of equipment and report any deficiencies, damage, leaks, or maintenance concerns.
  • Inspect equipment cameras, mirrors, lighting, and other safety-related systems to verify proper operation.
  • Maintain accurate fueling logs, equipment inspection forms, and service documentation.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and operational deficiencies promptly to the Grinder Operations Manager, shop personnel, or designated supervisor.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning, general upkeep, and preparation for daily operations.
  • Support yard housekeeping activities including debris removal, organization of equipment staging areas, and maintenance of clean workspaces.
  • Assist with organizing tools, supplies, and inventory within operational yards and facilities.
  • Monitor yard lighting, signage, and general site conditions and report concerns as identified.
  • Support equipment mobilization and readiness efforts during emergency response and disaster recovery operations.
  • Follow all company safety policies, client requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, recordkeeping, and other operational support duties as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business needs and operational objectives.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Previous experience fueling, servicing, or maintaining heavy equipment, grinding equipment, construction equipment, trucks, or fleet vehicles.
  • Experience working in debris management, construction, forestry, environmental services, recycling, or similar industries.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and equipment inspection procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic knowledge of fueling procedures and equipment maintenance practices.
  • Ability to identify obvious equipment maintenance and safety concerns.
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to following established procedures.

What to Expect

This role is primarily field- and yard-based, supporting company operations through equipment fueling, inspections, preventive maintenance activities, and general operational support. The Fuel & Equipment Support Technician routinely works around heavy equipment, grinders, trucks, loaders, support vehicles, and other operational assets used in disaster recovery and environmental services projects.

The work environment is fast-paced and often involves changing priorities, emergency response activities, and coordination with multiple stakeholders. The successful candidate will spend the majority of their time outdoors conducting inspections, fueling equipment, maintaining records, supporting equipment readiness, and assisting operations personnel. Travel, extended work hours, and occasional emergency deployments may be required depending on operational needs.
