Job summary

Plug Power Inc. in Kentucky is seeking a Field Service Technician to support fuel cell products in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns at a specified location.

This role requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and a valid driver’s license. You will perform diagnostics, field retrofits, and software/hardware upgrades while reporting events and maintaining service logs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with electrical coursework.
• 3+ years direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Formal training and education may be considered in lieu of direct experience.
• Must possess a valid driver license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred.
• General mechanical aptitude is required.
• Computer and software systems skills: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
• Dynamic interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with diverse audiences.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Creativity in solving technical problems.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and service of fuel cells at customer sites.
• Diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet at a location.
• Specialized service procedures including field retrofits and software/hardware upgrades.
• Provide on-call and emergency support to customers as required.
• Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for service as required.
• Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage, 480VAC, flammable fuels, cryogenic liquids, and fueling systems.
• Communicate with hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support.
• Provide feedback to regional service reps on fuel cell performance and field issues.
• Complete incident reports, service logs, inventory and site documentation.
• Exhibit and enforce safety procedures in field or customer sites.
• Travel as required for business needs; drive safely and adhere to traffic laws.
• Represent Plug Power professionally in all interactions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
