Job summary

Brigham and Women’s Hospital Police & Security is recruiting a Security Officer to ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff. You will join a professional team committed to high safety standards and community service.

The role emphasizes responding to emergencies, conducting investigations, and supporting safe operations within Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Massachusetts licensing and background checks will be part of the onboarding process.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in criminal justice preferred.
  • 1-3 years of security experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license in state of residence required.
  • Ability to pass background checks and obtain necessary certifications (training provided).
  • Preferably licensed as a Special State Police Officer under Massachusetts General Laws.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol buildings and grounds to identify and address potential security risks.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, encouraging a culture of safety awareness.
  • Respond to emergencies and conduct investigations as needed.
  • Assist with patient restraints, property accountability, and other security-related tasks.
  • Perform additional duties such as escorts and special assignments.

Minimum Requirements

Working Conditions
  • Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, stand/walk for extended periods, and respond to emergencies.
  • Must successfully complete functional assessments within the first 90 days and annually thereafter.
