Job summary

Pediatric-Specialists-of-Virginia in Ashburn, VA is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant to join the Outpatient Multi-Specialty Clinic. The role is full-time, 40 hours/week, 8:00am–4:30pm, and involves frontline patient care and clinic support.

You will assist with rooming, vitals, specimen collection, and basic procedures; manage patient flow and clerical tasks, and communicate clearly with families. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; AHA BLS is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program (CMA/RMA) or EMT-B/I.
• Current AHA BLS certification required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with internal and external contacts.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with medical terminology.
• TB test, drug screen and physical exam required.

Responsibilities

• Performs general patient care responsibilities including managing schedules, patient flow, and vitals.
• Assists with patient preparation for exams, phlebotomy, and specimen collection; escorts patients as needed.
• Relays instructions to patients/families and answers calls with pertinent information.
• Clerical tasks: handling medical records, lab/x-ray reports, referrals, and requisitions.
• Organizes medical records to ensure provider has necessary information during encounters.
• Instructs patients in basic testing requirements.
• Maintains exam/procedure rooms and restocks supplies between visits.

Job Description

• Performs general patient care responsibilities including checking schedules and organizing patient flow; recording patient blood pressure, height, weight; accompanying patients to exam/procedure room; assisting patients as needed with walking, collecting specimens, phlebotomy, assisting physicians/nurses; preparing patients for examination and treatment; relaying instructions to patients/families; answering calls and providing pertinent information.
• Fulfills clerical responsibilities as assigned, which may include: sending/receiving patient medical records; obtaining lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.; completing forms and requisitions as needed.
• Organizes medical records, including lab results, progress notes, etc. to ensure the provider has all the necessary information available during the patient's encounter.
• Instructs patient in basic testing requirements.
• Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned which may include: setting up instruments and equipment according to protocol; cleaning exam /procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits; ordering, sorting, storing supplies; restocking exam/procedures rooms.

Minimum Qualifications Required

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
• Graduation from an accredited program for Medical Assistants, Certified or Registered Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician-B/I
• Current AHA BLS certification
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word and Outlook).
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with both internal and external departmental contacts.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Experience with medical terminology.
• All employees must pass an employment TB, drug and physical exam.

Desired Qualifications

• At least two (2) years of experience in a medical group practice or similar industry.
• At least one (1) year of experience in a pediatric medical office setting.
• Proficient in English and Spanish, verbal and written communication skills.

Job Type: Full-Time

Pay: $20.00 -$24.00 per hour

Expected Hours: 40 Hours
