Job summary

Gila County Community College District seeks a Full Time Maintenance Tradesperson for the Payson Campus. The role operates on-campus at 201 N Mud Springs Rd., Payson, AZ.

Salary ranges from $18.90 to $20.90 hourly, with background screening and Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card required. Responsibilities include carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and related maintenance tasks, along with driving duties and event setup.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Construction maintenance, repair, and/or trade skills training and/or experience.
  • Ability to pass a background screening process and obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled trade construction or maintenance duties including, but not limited to, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems.
  • Perform repairs to facilities, furniture, equipment, and/or fixtures as needed.
  • Must possess a valid AZ driver’s license and be able to safely operate pickup trucks and other motorized vehicles.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or with hand trucks or motorized vehicles.
  • Willing and able to work a non-traditional schedule and respond to emergencies at any time.
  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, scaffolding, etc. to prepare facilities for events such as banquets or meetings.
  • Perform general custodial and/or groundskeeping responsibilities as needed or directed.
  • Perform similar duties not specifically listed as directed.

FT Maintenance Tradesperson - Payson Campus

Essential Functions
  • Ability to perform general physical activities that require coordination and considerable use of arms and/or legs and whole-body movement such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, carrying objects and handling tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to operate tools and various construction equipment and handle hazardous materials in a safe and effective manner.
  • Ability to plan and execute construction or maintenance projects of various scope utilizing experience or significant skill in one or more trades.
  • Additional position specific essential functions are listed below.
Level of Supervision or Independent Judgement
  • Performs experienced tradesperson duties with minimal supervision following procedures, instructions, and directions given.
  • Opportunities for independent decision making to effectively complete assigned trade projects and tasks.

Work Environment

Duties are performed in varied environments including outdoor and indoor sites. Exposure to hot or cold temperatures and/or wind, rain, snow, or other weather may occur. Exposure to hazardous materials and moderate to high noise levels is anticipated. Operation of tools and equipment involves the ability to repetitively manipulate objects from light to substantial weight using both fine and gross motor skills.
