The Salvation Army USA Western Territory is seeking a dedicated staff member for an evening shift (2:00PM-10:30PM), Sunday through Thursday, to supervise youth in care and provide structure and nurturing in a program setting.

Qualifications include 21+ years old, a high school diploma or GED, one year of supervisory experience with youth, and ability to complete background checks. CPR/First Aid and training in de-escalation are required.

  • Valid Driver's License with clean driving record.
  • Complete TSA Driver Training.
  • Capable of supervising youth and interacting with children in care.

Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly staff meetings & trainings.
  • Supervise Program Operations Specialists during shifts.
  • Lead trainings and required readings for one year.
  • Work well within a team and communicate needs to supervisors.
  • Directly supervise youth in care and communicate with professionals.
  • Lead daily activities including meals, sports, learning, swimming, trips, tutoring.
  • Document daily activities and maintain shift logs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and HIPAA/WAC guidelines.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
  • 21 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • One year of successful experience working with youth
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Pass a DSHS Background Check
  • Be emotionally mature and stable in order to provide consistency, structure, and nurturing.
  • CPR/First Aid training
  • Blood borne pathogen/HIV training
  • De-escalation and restraint training
  • Produce a recent negative TB test
  • Food Handlers permit
  • Valid Driver's License with clear driving record
  • Successfully complete TSA Driver Training
  • Capable of auditory and visual supervision; verbally and physically interact with children in care
  • Possess skills/abilities to successfully work with the challenging behaviors of youth in care

  • Be available to be on-call to cover other shifts during the week; some Holidays
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend monthly staff meetings & trainings
  • Supervise Program Operations Specialists during assigned shifts
  • Training Tracts - required readings & reports for one year
  • Work well within a team
  • Communicate program needs & client needs to supervisors
  • Directly supervise youth in care
  • Be able to communicate effectively with professional agencies and administration
  • Actively lead, participate in the client's daily activities including, mealtimes, sports activities, learning activities, swimming, field trips & tutoring
  • Follow posted schedules unless directed otherwise by a supervisor
  • Document client's daily activities
  • Model appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors for youth in care
  • Assist youth in identifying and meeting their physical needs
  • Follow and ensure compliance of all Child Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure HIPPA. WAC guidelines, contract, licensing and local policy and procedures compliance
  • Properly implement behavior management (de-escalation and restraint)
  • Comply with youth disciplinary guidelines
  • Offer guidance to the youth as needed
  • Clean the facility when needed
  • Do laundry when needed
  • Assist with snow removal when necessary
  • Serve food to the youth at mealtimes, as well as provide snacks throughout the day
  • Maintain facility security by ensuring windows and doors are locked; report any security concerns Contribute to a positive morale in the program.
  • Develop positive, professional relationships with coworkers
    • Accompany youth to school and appointments as needed (driving, riding or walking)
    • Will be the expert on the shift concerning intakes and discharges
    • Communicates with the program manager and assistant program manager about their shift
    • Communicates with DCYF social workers concerning guests in the program
    • Responsible for filling out the shift log at end of each shift

  • All other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Grasp, push, pull, objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, carts, doors, and reach overhead
  • Operate a telephone
  • Operate a desktop computer
  • Access and produce information from a computer
  • Understand written information
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
