  • Pass Criminal Background Check.

  • CPR/First Aid training.
  • De-escalation and restraint training.
  • Valid Driver’s License with clear driving record.
  • Successfully complete TSA Driver Training.
  • Capable of interacting with children in care.
  • Ability to work with challenging youth behaviors.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
  • High personal standards of cleanliness and thoroughness.
  • Available to be on-call to cover other shifts during the week; some holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly staff meetings & trainings.
  • Supervise Program Operations Specialists during assigned shifts.
  • Training Tracts – required readings & reports for one year.
  • Work well within a team.
  • Communicate program needs & client needs to supervisors.
  • Directly supervise youth in care.
  • Communicate with professional agencies and administration.
  • Lead daily activities including meals, sports, tutoring and field trips.
  • Follow posted schedules unless directed otherwise by a supervisor.
  • Document client daily activities.
  • Model appropriate social behaviors for youth in care.
  • Assist youth in meeting physical needs.
  • Follow Child Safety policies and HIPAA/WAC guidelines.
  • Implement behavior management (de-escalation and restraint).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

  • 21 years of age
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • One year of successful experience working with youth
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check
  • Pass a DSHS Background Check
  • Be emotionally mature and stable in order to provide consistency, structure, and nurturing.
  • CPR/First Aid training

  • Capable of auditory and visual supervision; verbally and physically interact with children in care

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Attend monthly staff meetings & trainings

  • Actively lead, participate in the client’s daily activities including, mealtimes, sports activities, learning activities, swimming, field trips & tutoring

  • Model appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors for youth in care
  • Assist youth in identifying and meeting their physical needs
  • Follow and ensure compliance of all Child Safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure HIPPA. WAC guidelines, contract, licensing and local policy and procedures compliance
  • Properly implement behavior management (de-escalation and restraint)
  • Comply with youth disciplinary guidelines
  • Offer guidance to the youth as needed
  • Clean the facility when needed
  • Do laundry when needed
  • Assist with snow removal when necessary
  • Serve food to the youth at mealtimes, as well as provide snacks throughout the day
  • Maintain facility security by ensuring windows and doors are locked; report any security concerns Contribute to a positive morale in the program.
  • Develop positive, professional relationships with coworkers
    • Accompany youth to school and appointments as needed (driving, riding or walking)
    • Will be the expert on the shift concerning intakes and discharges
    • Communicates with the program manager and assistant program manager about their shift
    • Communicates with DCYF social workers concerning guests in the program
    • Responsible for filling out the shift log at end of each shift

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Grasp, push, pull, objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, carts, doors, and reach overhead
  • Operate a telephone
  • Access and produce information from a computer
  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
