Job summary

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley is seeking a Surgical Equipment Technician to support the operating room by setting up and verifying equipment, ensuring sterility and readiness for cases, and coordinating with Biomed Engineering for any repairs. This role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to read instructions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to push/pull heavy equipment up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Review operating room schedule to avoid equipment conflicts.
  • Set up and check equipment for cleanliness and functionality.
  • Dons personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • Test equipment prior to return to location of origin.
  • Notify Biomed Engineering and Manager for repairs.
  • Coordinate instrumentation and equipment reports with services or reps.
  • Educate staff on equipment use.
  • Assist with equipment turnover in OR.
  • Interfacing with equipment reps and vendors.
  • Maintain equipment log status.

A Brief Overview

Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, performs the various duties in the surgical unit; performs non-nursing tasks in the surgical unit.

What you will do
  • Reviews operating room schedule in advance to avoid equipment conflicts.
  • Sets up and checks equipment for cleanliness and functionality prior to use.
  • Dons personal protective equipment when necessary.
  • Tests equipment prior to return to location of origin.
  • Notify Bio Medical Engineering and Manager in a timely manner when repair is needed.
  • Coordinate instrumentation and equipment reports with appropriate services or company representatives.
  • Educate staff on equipment use.
  • Work with management staff and service leads in ordering equipment and instruments.
  • Problem solves equipment issues in collaboration with manager and Bio Medical Engineering.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.
  • Proactively assists with turnover by managing OR equipment
  • Equipment troubleshooting
  • Liaison between Bio-Med and OR department
  • Interfacing with reps and vendors of the equipment
  • Management of equipment log status
Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
  • Must have excellent organization skills.
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to anticipate and change with the environment as needed
  • Ability to maintain the physical demands of the job, push/pull heavy equipment - 50lbs
  • Knowledge of safety, quality and joint commission standards as it relates to the department.
  • Basic EPIC knowledge

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $25.76 - $34.00 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
