Job summary

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley is accepting applications for a Central Service Technician in the Pleasanton area. The role sterilizes, assembles, and dispenses instruments and supplies, handling autoclaves and inventory with attention to quality and safety.

Required: High School Diploma or GED, 1–2 years of related experience or Central Service Technician training; Basic computer skills, strong English, time management and interpersonal abilities. BLS certification is required; CRCST preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sterilizes instruments, equipment, linen and supplies using autoclaves.
• Loads autoclaves in prescribed manner and sets controls to time/temp per manufacturer’s requirements; reads graph and records cycle.
• Assembles instrument procedure trays and packs using count sheets; wraps packages for sterilization.
• Communicates with supervisor when parts unavailable or equipment deficient; maintains count sheets.
• Dispenses sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies per department requests.
• Disassembles, cleans, reassembles and tests portable equipment with approved disinfectants and cleaners.
• Assists in orientation of new employees to each work area and department operation.
• Adheres to C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital and patient-experience framework.

This is a Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley job.

A Brief Overview

Disassembles, cleans, assembles, sterilizes, and stores procedure trays, instruments, equipment and supplies according to prescribed procedures and aseptic technique under direct supervision. Completes requests to dispense equipment and supplies and assists in maintaining and processing patient charge records and maintaining department inventory.

What you will do

• Sterilizes instruments, equipment, linen and supplies using various types of autoclaves.
• Loads autoclaves in the prescribed manner and set controls to specified time and temperature according to manufacturer’s requirements of items being sterilized. Reads autoclave graph to verify appropriate sterilization cycle and provides required records for inspection.
• Assembles all instrument procedure trays and packs according to the prescribed manner using count sheets. Wraps and handles packages for sterilization following the procedure.
• Communicates with supervisor when unable to replace parts or when equipment is deficient in the work area to keep accurate count sheets.
• Dispenses sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies per department request.
• Disassembles, cleans, reassembles and tests portable equipment using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps and cleaners to ensure proper functioning
• Assists in orientation of new employees to each work assignment area and overall department operation.
• Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare – ValleyCare’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience Qualifications

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $31.94 - $41.20 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
