Job summary

Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley is hiring a Central Service Technician to sterilize, assemble and dispense equipment and supplies. This role supports department inventory and maintains proper aseptic technique under supervision.

Requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of Central Service Technician training. Prior experience (1–2 years) is preferred; strong English communication and attention to detail are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of Central Service Technician training required.
  • Strong knowledge of QA, safety and infection control guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Sterilizes instruments, equipment, linen and supplies using autoclaves.
  • Loads autoclaves per manufacturer requirements and verifies sterilization cycles.
  • Assembles instrument trays and packs according to procedure.
  • Communicates with supervisor when parts are unavailable or equipment is deficient.
  • Dispenses sterile and non-sterile equipment per department requests.
  • Disassembles, cleans, reassembles and tests portable equipment with approved cleaners.
  • Assists in orientation of new employees to each work area.
  • Performs duties per C-I-CARE standards of the hospital.

Day - 08 Hour (United States of America)

This is a Stanford Health Care Tri-Valley job.
A Brief Overview

Disassembles, cleans, assembles, sterilizes, and stores procedure trays, instruments, equipment and supplies according to prescribed procedures and aseptic technique under direct supervision. Completes requests to dispense equipment and supplies and assists in maintaining and processing patient charge records and maintaining department inventory.

What you will do
  • Sterilizes instruments, equipment, linen and supplies using various types of autoclaves.
  • Loads autoclaves in the prescribed manner and set controls to specified time and temperature according to manufacturer’s requirements of items being sterilized. Reads autoclave graph to verify appropriate sterilization cycle and provides required records for inspection.
  • Assembles all instrument procedure trays and packs according to the prescribed manner using count sheets. Wraps and handles packages for sterilization following the procedure.
  • Communicates with supervisor when unable to replace parts or when equipment is deficient in the work area to keep accurate count sheets.
  • Dispenses sterile and non-sterile equipment and supplies per department request.
  • Disassembles, cleans, reassembles and tests portable equipment using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps and cleaners to ensure proper functioning
  • Assists in orientation of new employees to each work assignment area and overall department operation.
  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital. C-I-CARE is the foundation of Stanford Healthcare – ValleyCare’s patient-experience and represents a framework for patient-centered interactions
Education Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
Experience Qualifications
  • 1+ year to 2 years applicable experience Preferred
  • Completion of Central Service Technician training Required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic computer skill
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Assurance, Safety and Infection Control guidelines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong command of the English language – reading, writing and speaking.
  • Strong interpersonal skills
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current American Heart Association Certification for Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers required
  • CRCST - Certified Registered Central Service Technician preferred

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $31.94 - $41.20 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
