Job summary

Coastal Hospice in Salisbury, MD is seeking an Inpatient Unit RN to provide medical care to hospice patients in an inpatient setting, complete assessments, administer medications, and coordinate discharge planning. Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in Maryland or a compact state; BSN preferred; CHPN certification expected within two years.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of patient care utilizing ANA standards and the nursing process.
• Provide medical care to hospice patients in an inpatient setting; complete assessments and administer medications.
• Coordinate discharge planning with family and medical providers; ensure smooth transitions of care.
• Oversee and delegate assignments of staff on shift and participate in weekend/holiday/on-call rotations.

Coastal Hospice invites you to join a team of caregivers who are committed to promoting dignity and quality of life for patients and families who face life-limiting conditions. In your role as an RN at Coastal Hospice by the Lake, you will help ensure that every patient and family is honored, supported and comforted as they receive the right care at the right time throughout their journey.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and evaluate a plan of patient care utilizing ANA standards and the nursing process.
• Utilize equipment and technology skillfully and demonstrate technical competence in nursing procedures.
• Oversee and/or participate in safe medication handling and practices.
• Educate patients and families on significant self‑care and end‑of‑life issues, all hospice services, patient liability for payment, and ensure consent and payer forms are completed.
• Act as a patient advocate; provide support, information and direct care.
• Triage phone calls to identify patient/family needs and notify Admission Services of referrals.
• Oversee and delegate assignments of CMTs, LPNs, Hospice Aides, students, and volunteers on shift.
• Participate in weekend, holiday, on‑call and/or evening/night rotations.
• Maintain appropriate licenses and adhere to continuing education obligations.
• Cover different areas of hospice care to assure organizational needs are met.

Inpatient Unit RN

• Provide medical care to hospice patients in an inpatient setting.
• Complete assessments, administer medications, and manage the plan of care for patients during the shift.
• Coordinate discharge planning with family and medical provider.
