Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store, and throughout the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
- Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
- Maintain a positive, enthusiastic customer service environment, emphasizing fast, easy, friendly service to create a positive shopping experience
- Model outstanding customer service, using product knowledge to offer solutions that meet or exceed customer expectations
- Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems, including understanding and using the Average Cost Inventory System (ACIS)
- Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Write Deli Bakery HMS schedules bi-weekly to ensure extraordinary customer service at all times
- Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, conditioning, and display of merchandise in accordance with policies and guidelines
- Identify and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and report accidents per procedures
- Monitor inventory shrinkage, coach associates on loss prevention
- Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials appropriately
- Adhere to company policies, guidelines, and standards, including security standards
- Maintain a neat, professional appearance and comply with dress code
- Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the role
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Leadership and team management skills
- Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to technical tasks
- Minimum age requirements met; certification as a Food Safety Manager preferred or required within 90 days
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate computers and communication systems
- Ability to push/pull heavy loads, lift up to 50 lbs., and stand for extended periods
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures for short durations
- Visual ability to read documents and monitor work environment
