Primary Purpose
Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
- Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations
- Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
- Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
- Maintain an enthusiastic customer service atmosphere, ensuring fast, easy, friendly service to create a positive shopping experience
- Model outstanding customer service and utilize product knowledge to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations
- Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment
- Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems
- Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Create and manage Deli Bakery HMS schedules to ensure excellent customer service
- Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies
- Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
- Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
- Record and report accidents and monitor shrink to prevent losses
- Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials appropriately
- Maintain security standards and personal appearance guidelines
- Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the position
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Leadership and team management skills
- Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
- Ability to solve problems using technical information
- Minimum age requirements met
- Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days
Physical Requirements
- Ability to use computers and communication systems
- Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack
- Lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, 50 lbs occasionally
- Pull or push up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Stand continuously, walk short distances, handle substances, perform repetitive motions
- Work in extreme temperatures for short periods
- Sufficient visual ability for reading documents
