Primary Purpose

Support the management and duties of store operations to meet financial and sales goals. Build associate and customer relations and promote a strong culture in support of Food Lion Strategy. Maintain solid communications with the management team, all associates in the store and throughout the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Manage the Deli Bakery HMS Department in the absence of the Deli Manager, including supervising the performance of all duties and responsibilities of Deli Bakery HMS Associates
  • Daily management of labor (i.e., expected live) and coaching associates to achieve productivity expectations
  • Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture reflective of our Brand Strategy and Culture
  • Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
  • Maintain an enthusiastic customer service atmosphere, ensuring fast, easy, friendly service to create a positive shopping experience
  • Model outstanding customer service and utilize product knowledge to offer solutions exceeding customer expectations
  • Control store expenses through proper ordering, care for supplies and equipment
  • Utilize company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, productivity, ordering (CAO), and business information systems
  • Maintain department appearance, quality, variety, safety, food safety, and sanitation standards
  • Create and manage Deli Bakery HMS schedules to ensure excellent customer service
  • Oversee ordering, receiving, preparation, and display of merchandise according to policies
  • Observe and correct unsafe conditions to prevent accidents
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies
  • Record and report accidents and monitor shrink to prevent losses
  • Utilize advertising and sales promotion materials appropriately
  • Maintain security standards and personal appearance guidelines
  • Complete required training courses and meet physical requirements of the position
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Leadership and team management skills
  • Understanding of store operations and merchandising preferred
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements
  • Ability to solve problems using technical information
  • Minimum age requirements met
  • Certification as a Food Safety Manager or ability to obtain within 90 days

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use computers and communication systems
  • Ability to push/pull up to 2000 lbs with a pallet jack
  • Lift up to 15 lbs continuously, 25 lbs frequently, 50 lbs occasionally
  • Pull or push up to 75 lbs occasionally
  • Stand continuously, walk short distances, handle substances, perform repetitive motions
  • Work in extreme temperatures for short periods
  • Sufficient visual ability for reading documents
