Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Bolingbrook, IL is hiring a Patient Care Technician to perform treatments and assist the nursing team in delivering safe, compassionate patient care. You will work under supervision to ensure standards of practice, document procedures, and participate in performance improvement activities.

The role requires a High School diploma, BLS and multiple certifications (CNA, CPCT/A, NCPCT, PCT-C, EMT) with strong communication and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equiv required.
• CPCT/A, NCPCT, PCT-C, EMT and BLS certifications required or preferred.
• Nursing support experience in acute care encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Perform treatments per policy to provide age-appropriate patient care.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and assist in delivering patient care under RN supervision.
• Document procedures and communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team.
• Assist with nursing history collection and report abnormalities to the RN.

Job Description: Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives. Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations. Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously. Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff. Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse. Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy. Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse. Assists in identifying patient needs Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience:

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required]
• NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required]
• NCCT Patient Care Technician (NCPCT) [Required]
• AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required]
• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required]

Pay Range: $17.33 - $27.73
