UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Illinois is seeking a Patient Care Technician to join our team. You will provide patient care under the direction of a registered nurse, maintain a safe environment, and communicate effectively with patients and families.

Requirements include High School Grad, preferred 1+ PCT experience, and listed certifications (BLS/CPR, CNA, CPCT/A, NCPCT, PCT-C, EMT). We offer day-one benefits, a sign-on bonus up to $5,000, and a full-time day schedule.

Qualifications

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.

• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in delivering patient care under the direction of a registered nurse.

Full time Shift: Day (United States of America)

Schedule: 36 hours/week; Days 6:45am - 7:15pm, w/rotating weekends and holidays

Up to a $5,000 sign on bonus for Eligible Applicants

Job Description

• Performs treatments according to policy and procedure, providing patient care appropriate to age, mobility, acuity, and culture.
• Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies.
• Participates in practice changes resulting from performance improvement activities and supports quality standards and initiatives.
• Follows prescribed isolation guidelines, demonstrates appropriate use of protective equipment, performs handwashing according to policy, and enforces safety regulations.
• Exhibits a desire to learn and upgrades skills continuously.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Maintains a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
• Assists in the delivery of patient care as a team member under the direction of a registered nurse.
• Documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department policy.
• Participates in obtaining a nursing history and reports abnormalities to the registered nurse.
• Assists in identifying patient needs
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required]
• NHA Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required]

• AMCA Patient Care Technician Certification (PCT-C) [Required]
• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required]

Pay Range

$17.33 - $27.73
