Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Glendale Heights, IL, seeks a dedicated Patient Care Technician to support nursing staff and deliver compassionate bedside care on the night shift. This full-time role includes maintaining clean patient spaces, proper documentation, and timely reporting of patient changes to the team.

Requirements include a High School diploma or equivalent, BLS certification, and CPCT/A or CNA/EMT credentials. Eligible applicants may receive up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1+ year PCT experience preferred.
• Previous bedside patient care in acute care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care tasks and mobility.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms.
• Document records accurately and timely.
• Report changes in patient conditions to nursing staff.
• Follow safety and infection control protocols.
• Communicate with patients, families, and healthcare team.

Job Description

• Schedule: 40 hours/week; Nights 7:00pm - 3:30am, w/rotating weekends and holidays
• Up to a $5,000 sign on bonus for Eligible Applicants

• Supports nursing staff with patient care tasks.
• Maintains clean and orderly patient rooms.
• Aids with movement and placement of patients.
• Assists patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Reports findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Documents necessary records accurately and timely.
• Monitors and reports patient conditions.
• Ensures proper functioning and maintenance of medical equipment.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Follows safety and infection control protocols.
• Participates in training and development activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education

• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]

Work Experience

• 1+ applicable PCT experience [Preferred]
• Previous bedside patient care in an acute care unit, unit secretary, monitor technician, or equivalent medical experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required
• Certified Patient Care Technician/Assistant (CPCT/A) [Required] OR
• Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) [Required]OR
• Emergency Medical Tech Cert (EMT) [Required]
