Job summary

State of Colorado is seeking an Assistant Manager for the Colorado Welcome Center Fruita. The role focuses on supervising volunteer Travel Counselors, coordinating weekend coverage, and overseeing front desk operations while ensuring exceptional visitor experiences in a busy welcome center setting.

The position requires strong leadership, communication, and organization skills, with a willingness to manage travel literature, staff training, and technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent (4) years experience in volunteer management, hospitality, project management, guest relations, administration, or office management.
• Excellent proficiency in Google Apps, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move up to 30 pounds; weekend work required.

Responsibilities

• Assist Manager with scheduling duties and ensure adequate coverage of the Welcome Center with volunteer Travel Counselors and/or paid staff.
• Oversee scheduling and coverage of the center; manage volunteers and ensure front desk coverage during business hours.
• Handle physical duties including lifting up to 30 pounds and moving supplies.
• Advise travelers about Colorado tourism, geography, road and weather conditions.
• Manage ordering, receiving and displaying travel literature; organize and maintain literature supplies.
• Prepare and conduct trainings for volunteer Travel Counselors as directed by the Manager.
• Troubleshoot technologies and manage on-site equipment.
• Organize volunteer recruitment events and participate in outreach.
• Compile monthly volunteer hours and reports; support monthly visitation reporting.
