Job summary
Canadian National Inc. is seeking a Front Line Supervisor to manage day-to-day train operations within a territory or terminal, coordinating with unionized crews to meet service commitments.
The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and efficient operations in a 24/7 environment. The incumbent will learn CN operating rules, organize territory staffing, and may be on-call reporting to line points, ensuring safe departures and timely service while interacting with customers and handling
Qualifications
- Front line supervisor role overseeing day-to-day train operations.
- 4 years supervisory experience in a safety-conscious environment.
- 3 years of railroad conductor experience.
- Industrial work experience in a safety-compliant setting.
- Valid Driver's Licence is expected.
- Degree or certification in business/logistics is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate front line supervision to meet service commitments.
- Coach and train unionized employees on safe procedures.
- Oversee crew utilization, deadheads and recrews.
- Coordinate with Transportation Manager for safety and incidents.
- Develop recovery plans for service exceptions with RTC and supervisors.
- Monitor safety observations and enforce procedures.
- Work with Rail Traffic Control on lineups and crew needs.
- Drive cost control and asset utilization improvements in planning.
