Job summary

Canadian National Inc. is seeking a leader to manage operations for an assigned territory involving track inspection, rail repairs, and replacement of rails, ties, switches, and ballasts.

The role requires coordination of engineering operations with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance. The incumbent will supervise track supervisors and crews, enforce CN policies, and manage budgets while communicating progress to senior management.

Qualifications

• Safety compliance experience required.
• Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving.
• Budget management experience.
• Labour relations experience including interpretation of collective agreements and grievances.
• Experience as Assistant Track Supervisor and in construction program supervision.
• Experience supervising a unionized workforce.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage engineering operations as outlined in CN's operating plan.
• Supervise a team of Assistant Track Supervisors responsible for rail inspection.
• Supervise and manage track gangs, track inspectors, and hi-rail operations.
• Enforce safe work procedures, FRA guidelines, and CN policies.
• Lead and coach employees with regular performance monitoring.
• Apply collective agreements and company policies, conduct investigations, and respond to grievances.
• Ensure compliance with Transport Canada rules and regulations.
• Manage budgets and workforce productivity within CN policies.
• Communicate track conditions and daily production information to senior management.
