Job summary

DC Army National Guard Infantry positions offer paid training and the chance to learn critical military skills while serving in the National Guard. Soldiers participate in Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) and can qualify for tuition assistance and other benefits.

As an Infantryman, you will engage in reconnaissance, operate weapons, and work as part of a fire team during training and missions, contributing to national security while earning a regular paycheck.

Qualifications

• Must be at least a junior in high school or have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet legal and moral standards.
• Must meet citizenship requirements (see NATIONALGUARD.com for details).

Responsibilities

• Assist in reconnaissance operations.
• Employ, fire, and recover anti-personnel and anti-tank mines.
• Operate weapon systems under various conditions, including night vision sights.
• Operate and maintain communications equipment.
• Perform as a member of a fire team during training and combat missions.
• Process prisoners of war and captured documents.
• Aid in the mobilization of vehicles, troops, and weaponry.
• Use, maintain, and store combat weapons (e.g., rifles, machine guns, anti-tank mines).
