Job summary

DC Army National Guard Infantry soldiers form the backbone of ground combat operations, including taking or holding ground with advanced tactics. You will train to operate and recover weapons, participate in reconnaissance, and work as part of a fire team during missions and drills.

You will learn in a paid training program with tuition assistance and benefits, including healthcare, retirement provisions, and education support through the Montgomery GI Bill and other programs.

Qualifications

• Must enlist in the Army National Guard.
• Age 17–35 and hold a high school diploma or GED.
• Must pass a physical exam and meet standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in reconnaissance operations.
• Operate weapon systems under various conditions.
• Operate and maintain communications equipment.
• Perform as a member of a fire team during training and missions.
• Process prisoners of war and captured documents.
• Aid in mobilization of vehicles, troops, and weaponry.
• Use and store combat weapons safely.
