Job summary

Odessa Fire Rescue seeks a Firefighter EMT/Paramedic to protect lives and property through firefighting and EMS activities in Odessa, Texas. The role requires responding to fires and emergencies within a designated district and performing essential firefighting and medical duties.

Applicants must hold a Texas DSHS EMT and Paramedic certification, possess a Texas Driver License, and be able to meet physical and training requirements.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Possess a valid Texas Driver License (Class C).
• Must be a certified Firefighter with the Texas Commission on Fire Protection.
• Must be a certified Texas DSHS EMT at time of employment.
• If not a Texas DSHS Paramedic when hired, enroll in the first available Paramedic class and pursue certification.
• Maintain Paramedic level certification during employment.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fires, emergencies, and non-emergency calls within a designated district.
• Operate firefighting apparatus and direct water/chemical streams as needed.
• Position and climb ladders to access buildings and rescue individuals.
• Ventilate buildings and create entry points using tools.
• Administer first aid and CPR to victims.
• Inspect buildings for preplanning and safety.
• Maintain and repair equipment, quarters, and hydrants.
• Participate in training, drills, and public education.
• Drive fire and EMS apparatus as required.
• Perform EMS duties and related tasks.
