Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) to provide Basic Life Support (BLS) for emergency and non-emergency calls in New Jersey. The role requires NJ EMT certification or equivalent, BLS certification, a valid driver’s license, and strong communication skills.

You will respond to calls, perform pre-hospital care, operate EMS vehicles, and document patient care in reports.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Current NJ EMT certification, or NREMT EMT Basic, or reciprocal state certification.
• AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• CEVO/EVOC training within 90 days of hire (HMH).

Responsibilities

• Responds to calls in a timely manner and supports public safety and healthcare providers during patient care.
• Assesses patients and provides pre-hospital BLS care as conditions require.
• Operates emergency vehicle safely and ensures vehicle readiness and cleanliness.
• Completes patient care reports accurately and communicates with medical control.
• Maintains equipment, supplies, and station facilities; supports QA processes.
• Provides patient handoff and contributes to ongoing quality improvement.
