Job summary

Southern California Medical Center in Long Beach is seeking a bilingual Front Office Medical Assistant who speaks English and Spanish to join our clinic team.

Responsibilities include front office duties, call center, scheduling with EHR, handling patient feedback, assisting clinic management, outreach, and administrative tasks.

We serve underserved patients with compassionate care; a HS diploma is required and an Associate degree or MA certificate is preferred, with healthcare experience a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required; Associate degree or Medical Assistant Training certificate preferred.
• Minimum one year experience in healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Involved in clinic workflow including front office, call center, and back office.
• Use of EHR for scheduling, registration and documenting patient data.
• Primary facilitator of patient feedback and complaints.
• Investigate and communicate patient feedback with Clinic Manager.
• Communicate efficiently with all medical staff regarding patient inquiries.
• Assist Clinic Manager with implementing process improvements (review office workflow).
• Reach out to patients who are no-shows to their scheduled appointments.
• Assist with PPE inventory and orders.
• Notify patients of laboratory findings as instructed by clinical director.
• Review patient charts and present findings to the physician.
• Perform vaccines, data collection, medical record upkeep, patient education and CLIA waived lab testing (if applicable).
• Promote clinic outreach, marketing and community engagement.
• Other duties as assigned.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Involved in the clinic workflow including but not limited to front office, call center, and back office (if applicable for MA).
• Use of EHR for scheduling, registration and documenting patient data.

• Reach out to patients who are no shows to their scheduled appointments.
• Assist with PPE inventory and orders.
• Notify patients of normal and abnormal laboratory findings as instructed by the clinical director.
• Review patient’s charts and present finding to the physician.
• Perform other clinical duties including but not limited to patient triage, data collection and recording, administration of vaccines and medications, medical record upkeep, patient education, CLIA waived lab testing, labeling and transporting laboratory specimens (if applicable).
• Promote clinic, assist with outreach, marketing and community engagement.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma required; Associate degree or Medical Assistant Training certificate preferred.
• Minimum one (1) year experience in healthcare setting; preferred.

• Able to handle pressure and remain calm in stressful situations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Excellent customer service skills and telephone manner.
• Able to multi-task and at times be willing to travel to different sites.
• Computer skills and knowledge, including word processing, medical database operations and spreadsheets.
