Job summary

The City of Abilene Environmental Recycling Center is seeking a versatile equipment operator to run roll-off/front loader trucks and to supervise safe, efficient recycling operations. You will perform routine maintenance, help manage grounds, and support grinding and chipping activities across routes.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, with 18 months of related equipment experience preferred and basic computer skills for daily tasks and reporting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 18 months experience operating Commercial Roll Off Vehicles, Wheel Loaders and farm-type tractors preferred.
• 1 year experience using business computers, email, and POS terminals preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in collecting offsite recycle routes operating a roll-off or front loader truck.
• Performs daily and weekly preventive maintenance on farm tractor and wheel loaders.
• Maintains and repairs building and grounds; maintains tree limb service areas for safety and appearance.
• Operates tractor with front loading bucket or wheel loader to assist in chipping operations, mulch loading, and grounds maintenance.
• Performs or assists in tree limb grinding operations and completes offsite recycle collection routes.
• Follow all safety rules and report unsafe working conditions, accidents, and injuries to supervisor.
