General Description
Under general supervision to perform a variety of operations at the City of Abilene Environmental Recycling Center. These duties include but are not limited to the operation of a front loader collection vehicle, operation of the horizontal grinder, operation of wheeled loaders, and the operation of a commercial roll-off truck. Providing technical supervision while training new solid waste employees on the safe operation of collection routes.
General Description
Under general supervision to perform a variety of operations at the City of Abilene Environmental Recycling Center. This position exercises no supervision.
Important And Essential Duties
- Assists in the collection of the offsite recycle routes operating a roll-off or front loader truck.
- Performs the daily and weekly preventive maintenance on the farm tractor, and wheel loaders.
- Maintains and makes minor repairs to the building and grounds; maintains the tree limb service areas to ensure safety and appearance.
- Operates a tractor with front loading bucket or wheel loader to assist in chipping operations, mulch loading, and grounds maintenance.
- Performs or assists in the tree limb grinding operations and in the completion of the offsite recycle collection routes.
- Follow all safety rules and report unsafe working conditions, accidents, and injuries to supervisor

- Operating characteristics and servicing of refuse handling equipment.
- Work hazards and applicable safety precautions associated with assigned equipment and operations.

- Operate and maintain a variety of tools, materials, and equipment used in the recycling program.

Experience And Training Guidelines
Experience
- Previous small hand tools, power tools, and manual work experience is required.
- 18 months of experience operating Commercial Roll Off Vehicles, Wheel Loaders and farm-type tractors is preferred.
- 1 year Utilizing Business Computers, Email, Point of Sale Terminals experience preferred.
Education/Training
A high school diploma or GED is required.
License Or Certificate
A valid Texas Class B CDL Driver’s License is required.
