Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a Service Coordinator to lead and support front-end operations, ensuring a high-quality shopping experience. You will coordinate checkout flows, supervise cashiers, service desk, and courtesy teams, and coach staff to meet productivity and service goals.

The role emphasizes clear communication across shifts, proactive issue escalation, and participation in community programs, with training responsibilities to develop team members’ skills and adherence to company standards.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and customer-oriented approach.
• Ability to operate cash registers and financial services equipment.
• Demonstrated multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
• Leadership experience welcomed but not required.
• Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with peer leadership for smooth handoff between shifts
• Perform survival walk of the department and shift-to-shift hand-off when the team leader or area leader is not present.
• Coordinate and drive actions and activities involving the monitoring and control of shrink and financial business outcomes within areas of responsibility.
• Proactively elevate concerns to leadership as they arise.
• Champion participation in community programs.
• Lead by example with behaviors and team member resource group (TMRG) engagement.
• Serve as a certified trainer for team members in their span of care.
• Perform on-the-job/hands-on team member training and mentoring.
• Serve as subject matter expert for market programs, company pilots, and development/training programs.
• Assign tasks to team members within the department, in partnership with the team leader, and follow up to ensure task completion.
