Job summary

Lowe's in Salt Lake City is hiring for a cashier/retail associate. You will provide SMART customer service, assist customers with locating and loading merchandise, and explain product details and warranties.

You will also train and coach teammates, process transactions, ensure security and price accuracy, and help manage checkout flow and safety standards across the store. The role requires strong communication, basic computer/retail tech skills, and prior cashier experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent years of experience.
• 1 year retail cashier experience preferred.
• Ability to operate a computer and basic retail technology.
• Sales-related licensure or registration if required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide SMART customer service following Lowe's policies.
• Assist customers in locating, demonstrating and loading merchandise.
• Answer questions and guide customers through store areas and projects.
• Communicate stock, warranty and program information to customers.
• Coach and train associates in department duties and sales opportunities.
• Process sales, returns and refunds on a cash register.
• Provide correct change to associates for register activities.
• Remove security tags and bag merchandise for customers.
• Assist in line vesting and manage checkout coverage.
• Prepare register area and verify functionality of registers and scanners.
• Inspect returned merchandise for damages.
• Enter and submit orders, print tickets, verify receipts and loading tickets.
• Look up product information and verify price matching.
• Record items used in the store on use lists.
• Perform cash counting and daily reconciliation.
• Monitor cash in drawer and cash recycler levels.
• Monitor store entrances/exits and respond to alarms.
• Detect shoplifting indicators and inform management/Asset Protection.
• Maintain housekeeping standards and a clean store area.
• Maintain a safe work environment and conduct daily safety reviews.
• Follow safety requirements for stock and equipment.
• Operate store equipment as needed for the role.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
