Job summary

Tektora Limited is seeking a Front End Developer / 508 Compliance Specialist in Annapolis Junction, MD. The role combines front-end engineering with hands-on accessibility testing to ensure WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA compliance across interfaces.

The ideal candidate holds an active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph and will work in a cross-functional Agile team. Hybrid work arrangement allows up to three days remote per week.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph is required.
• Hands-on experience testing with JAWS and other assistive technologies.
• Strong knowledge of Section 508, WCAG 2.1/2.2 (A/AA) and ARIA practices.
• Experience with semantic HTML, accessible forms, keyboard navigation, and focus management.
• Proficient in accessibility testing/auditing tools such as axe DevTools, WAVE, Pa11y and Lighthouse.
• Experience with Git, Jira and Confluence in an Agile environment.
• Experience producing VPATs and Accessibility Conformance Reports for reviews.
• Integrating automated accessibility checks into CI/CD (e.g., GitLab CI/CD).
• Cypress or similar tooling for automated UI/accessibility tests.
• Cloud-based architecture (AWS) and federal agency reporting knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain front-end components conforming to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA.

This role would suit someone who combines solid front-end engineering skills with deep, hands-on accessibility testing and remediation expertise, including real proficiency with screen reader technology, and who enjoys working as part of a cross-functional Agile team alongside developers, system engineers and product owners.

The Role

You will be involved in:

• Designing, developing and maintaining front-end components and user interfaces conforming to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA standards
• Performing comprehensive accessibility testing using JAWS and other screen readers
• Identifying and remediating issues across keyboard navigation, focus management, ARIA implementation, colour contrast and semantic HTML structure
• Conducting manual and automated accessibility audits, documenting findings and producing test reports to support agency compliance requirements
• Partnering with UX/UI designers, developers and product owners early in the design process to build accessibility in by design rather than retrofitting it
• Providing guidance on accessible design patterns
• Working with QA and DevOps to integrate automated accessibility testing tools such as axe-core, Pa11y and Lighthouse into the CI/CD pipeline for continuous compliance monitoring
• Participating actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning and demos
• Communicating accessibility requirements and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Key Experience Required

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph — essential, non-negotiable
• Hands-on expertise testing with the JAWS screen reader, with working familiarity of other assistive technologies
• Strong knowledge of Section 508 standards, WCAG 2.1/2.2 (Levels A/AA) and ARIA authoring practices
• Experience with semantic HTML, accessible form design, keyboard navigation patterns and focus management
• Proficiency with accessibility testing and auditing tools such as axe DevTools, WAVE, Pa11y and Lighthouse
• Experience with version control (Git) and Agile collaboration tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Producing VPATs and Accessibility Conformance Reports for federal agency review
• Integrating automated accessibility checks into CI/CD pipelines, for example GitLab CI/CD
• Cypress or similar tooling for automated UI and accessibility test scripting
• Cloud-based architecture and deployment (Amazon Web Services)
• Domain knowledge of government agency reporting and dissemination policies
