Job summary

Benz Technology Inc. seeks a Front-End Developer to build accessible UI with Section 508 and WCAG AA compliance. You will work in an Agile team, performing hands-on front-end engineering and accessibility validation, including screen reader proficiency, throughout the full development lifecycle.

You will design, develop, and test interfaces, partner with UX/UI designers, and embed accessibility in design and code, plus integrate automated checks into the pipeline.

Responsibilities

U.S. citizenship required.About the RoleWe are looking for a Front-End Developer with deep expertise in Section 508 accessibility compliance to build and validate accessible, standards-conformant user interfaces. You will combine hands-on front-end engineering with rigorous accessibility testing and remediation — including screen reader proficiency — to ensure interfaces are fully usable by individuals with disabilities. This role works closely within a cross-functional Agile team alongside developers, system engineers, and product owners throughout the full development lifecycle.ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, and maintain front-end components and user interfaces conforming to Section 508 and WCAG 2.1/2.2 AA standards.Perform comprehensive accessibility testing using JAWS and other assistive technologies, remediating issues related to keyboard navigation, focus management, ARIA implementation, color contrast, and semantic HTML structure.Conduct manual and automated accessibility audits, document findings, and produce test reports to support compliance requirements.Partner with UX/UI designers and product owners early in the design process to embed accessibility by design rather than retrofit it, and advise on accessible design patterns.Integrate automated accessibility testing tools (e.g., axe-core, Pa11y, Lighthouse) into the CI/CD pipeline for continuous compliance monitoring.Participate actively in Agile ceremonies — sprint planning, demos — and communicate accessibility requirements and tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Required QualificationsFront-end application development using modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue preferred)Hands-on testing with JAWS screen reader and working familiarity with other assistive technologiesStrong knowledge of Section 508 standards, WCAG 2.1/2.2 (Levels A/AA), and ARIA authoring practicesProficiency with semantic HTML, accessible form design, keyboard navigation patterns, and focus managementExperience with accessibility auditing tools such as axe DevTools, WAVE, Pa11y, and LighthouseVersion control with Git and Agile collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence)Desired QualificationsExperience producing VPATs / Accessibility Conformance Reports for federal agency reviewExperience integrating automated accessibility checks into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI/CD)Experience with Cypress or similar tools for automated UI/accessibility test scriptingFamiliarity with cloud-based architecture and deployment on AWSFamiliarity with government agency reporting and dissemination policiesWhy engineers join Benz15% employer 401(k) — vested day one, no match required28 paid days off per year$7,500 annual tuition reimbursement$2,500 training & development budget28 years in business — our engineers stay through recompetes
