Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a part-time Front End Associate to deliver fast, friendly service and assist customers at the store entrance. You will greet customers, process transactions, bag groceries, and help with checkout operations while maintaining a clean front-end area.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent and strong communication skills. This role requires the ability to learn multiple tasks, meet age requirements, and stand for long periods in a retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and use his or her name whenever possible.
• Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt and group items for bagging.
• Follow bagging procedures and use bags correctly by type.
• Scan customer orders and handle payment transactions per standard practice.
• Follow cash handling, refunds and error-correction procedures.
• Maintain accurate cash control and perform overrides as needed.
• Assist customers by offering to take orders to their car.
• Keep work area neat and front-end area presentable.
• Report any register malfunctions and ensure MVP savings kiosk is functional.
