Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a front-end/customer service associate to provide fast, friendly service at the Roanoke store. You will greet customers, ring up purchases, bag items, and assist with To-Go orders as needed.

The role emphasizes cash handling accuracy, loss prevention awareness, and teamwork with store staff. Physical duties include standing long hours and lifting light loads while maintaining a neat store appearance.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and uses his or her name whenever possible.
• Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt and group items for bagging.
• Follow correct bagging procedures and scan payments per standard practice.
• Handle cash, checks, coupons, gift cards, and vouchers per procedures.
• Perform the task of cashier when scheduled or as needed per surge plan guidelines.
• Maintain a neat and clean front-end area and report issues to management.
• Assist with Food Lion To-Go orders when applicable.
• Complete CBT-based training and training aid courses.
