Job summary

Food Lion in Madison Heights, VA is seeking a friendly front-end associate to provide fast, accurate service and support cash handling per store standards. You will greet customers, ring up purchases, bag groceries, and maintain a clean front-end area.

Responsibilities include assisting with Food Lion To-Go orders when needed, following cash handling procedures, and maintaining a positive shopping experience for all customers.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Ability to perform the technical requirements of cashier and service center.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Smile and provide prompt, accurate and friendly service while engaging customers to create a positive shopping experience.
• Greet each customer and uses his or her name whenever possible.
• Unload customers' groceries from cart to belt and group items for bagging.
• Check bottom of every cart and under baby seats for items before completing an order.
• Follow correct bagging procedures and handle cash, checks, coupons, gift cards and WIC vouchers.
