Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies in Salem, Oregon is hiring for a part-time cashier/bagger role to create outstanding customer experiences. You will greet customers, ring up purchases, handle payments, and answer questions with a friendly, accurate approach.

You will work in a fast-paced store environment, adhere to safety guidelines, manage basic math accurately, and contribute to loss prevention. Prior bagger or courtesy clerk experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet, engage, and assist customers.
• Process customer transactions through the check lane quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand the POS system, and handle tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, complex loyalty offers, coupons and checkout procedures according to company policy.
• Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow established policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions.
• Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying management of repairs.
• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and appreciated.
• Adhere to all laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a constructive manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.

• Understand and adhere to the company's limits on cash shortages and/or overages and work honestly and effectively to control loss.

• Understand and adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items ( i.e., alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).

• Follow established policies and procedures (where applicable) for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.

• Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads.
