Job summary

Kroger in Petersburg, IN is seeking a Customer Service/Cashier to assist customers, process sales, and operate the checkstand in a fast-paced environment while upholding our core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

The role includes handling refunds, money orders, gift cards, lottery where available, and other desk duties. You will keep the checkout area clean, answer phones, and support store operations with reliability and courtesy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent
• Six months cashier experience to work at Customer Service Desk
• Minimum 18 years of age/19 in Idaho/19 in Alaska if selling tobacco
• Ability to pass drug test
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work weekends regularly, any shift, and overtime as needed
• Ability to organize/prioritize tasks
• Knowledge of company policies, procedures and structure
• Related retail experience

Responsibilities

• Assist customers and process sales at the checkstand
• Deliver and encourage associates to provide excellent customer service
• Perform cashier functions including open/close register and tender transactions
• Maintain cleanliness of checkstand area
• Answer telephones and comply with corporate policies
• Promote and follow company initiatives
• Verify EAS tags are deactivated/removed at point of sale
• Respond to EAS pedestal activations as necessary
• Open/close Customer Service Desk and process refunds, exchanges, money orders, transfers, bill pay and gift cards
• Provide lottery service (except Alaska) and fish and game licenses
• Send/receive faxes and administer lost and found
