Job summary

The Kroger Family of Companies is hiring a Cashier/Checker at our Fishers, IN store. You will greet customers, process transactions, and ensure a fast, friendly checkout while maintaining accurate cash handling and store policies.

Key duties include operating the POS system, handling varied payment methods, and staying compliant with safety, food safety, and loss-prevention guidelines. The role emphasizes teamwork and customer service in a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk preferred.
• Ability to greet, engage and assist customers.

Responsibilities

• Cashier/Checker greets, engages and assists customers.
• Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently.
• Understand POS system and handle tenders (Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, Offline SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons).
• Adhere to cash handling limits and protect against loss.
• Adhere to guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).
• Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.
• Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.
• Stay current with ads and promotions.
• Adhere to food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Support safety programs and notify management of unsafe conditions.
• Inspect equipment and notify for repairs as needed.
• Create a welcoming environment and answer questions about products.
• Follow local, state and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a calm, cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek help to resolve issues.
• Provide assistance to minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
