Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Customer Service Desk/Store Associate to assist customers, process sales, and maintain cashier functions at the Milford, OH location. Responsibilities include handling refunds, lottery, and licenses where applicable, and ensuring EAS tags are deactivated at sale.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
  • Six months cashier experience to work at Customer Service Desk.
  • Minimum 18 years of age/19 years in Idaho/19 years in Alaska if selling tobacco.
  • Ability to pass drug test.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work weekends, any shift and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to organize/prioritize tasks.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Assist customers and process sales.
  • Deliver and encourage exceptional customer service.
  • Perform cashier functions: open/close register, ring sales, tender transactions, bag merchandise, and make money drops.
  • Maintain checkstand area cleanliness and handle price discrepancies.
  • Answer telephones and follow corporate policies.
  • Support company initiatives and ensure EAS tag deactivation at purchase.
  • Respond to EAS pedestal activations and verify tag removal.
  • Maintain store accounting functions and prepare bank deposits.
  • Open and close the Customer Service Desk, process refunds, exchanges, money orders, and transfers.
  • Provide lottery service and issue fish and game licenses where applicable.
  • Handle faxes, lost and found, vendor reports.
  • Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment and manage conflicts calmly.
  • Act with honesty and integrity with customer and business information.

Job description

Assist customers and process sales. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service

  • Perform cashier functions, including open/close register, ring sales, complete tender transactions, bag merchandise, make money drops and knowledge of produce codes

  • Complete file maintenance log for price discrepancies

  • Maintain cleanliness of checkstand area to housekeeping standards

  • Answer telephones

  • Comply with all corporate policies

  • Promote and follow Company initiatives

  • Verify all Electronic Article Surveillance Tags are deactivated or removed from products at point of sale

  • Respond to Electronic Article Surveillance pedestal activations and verify tag removal, as necessary

Store Accounting:
  • Maintain all store accounting functions

  • Prepare bank deposit of excess funds (cash and checks

Customer Service Desk:
  • Open and close desk

  • Process refunds, exchanges, money orders and transfers, bill pay, gift cards, purchase orders, equipment rentals

  • Provide lottery service (except Alaska) and fish and game licenses

  • Send/receive faxes

  • Administer lost and found

  • Run vendor reports

  • Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.

  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.

  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.

  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.

  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or combination of relevant education and experience
