Job summary

Ralphs in Los Angeles is seeking a friendly, dependable associate to create outstanding customer experiences and maintain a safe, clean store environment. You will verify, balance and report cash assets and related documents, and support store operations with daily tasks.

The role emphasizes the Customer 1st strategy, handling high-paced, sometimes stressful situations, effective communication and teamwork with fellow associates to assist customers and protect store assets.

Qualifications

• Ability to handle stressful situations.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ability to use 10-key adding machine by touch.
• Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction).
• Bookkeeping or clerical experience (desired).
• Customer service experience (desired).
• Second language (speaking, reading and/or writing) (desired).

Responsibilities

• Count and balance daily cash and paper assets.
• Prepare cash and check deposits.
• Prepare daily and weekly sales and cash reports.
• Report sales and register transactions to Store Manager.
• Maintain Kronos and Timekeeping daily and finalize store weekly payroll.
• Assist management with administrative duties.
• Answer phones and communicate with store associates and customers.
• Post daily cash shortages/overages in accordance with company policy.
• Follow established policies and procedures for postage stamps, money orders, gift certificates, lottery, Western Union money transfers, etc.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identify unsafe conditions and notify store management.
• Notify management of customer or employee accidents.
• Report all safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud.
• Collaborate with team members to encourage teamwork.
• Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
• Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
