Job summary

Touchstone Climbing Inc. is seeking a friendly Front Desk Staff member for our San Francisco gyms. This part-time role (up to 30 hours/week) focuses on welcoming visitors, processing memberships, handling inquiries, and keeping the gym running smoothly.

You’ll work with POS systems, assist with waivers and reservations, and help maintain a clean, safe, and inclusive environment for climbers of all levels. Starting pay is $20/hour.

Qualifications

• Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends.
• Passion for climbing and knowledge of safety practices.
• Friendly and calm under pressure when handling customer needs.
• Self-directed and proactive with tasks.
• Comfortable using computers and POS systems.
• Experience in customer service is a plus but not required.
• CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors, check waivers, and enforce gym policies.
• Answer calls and emails; assist members at the front desk.
• Process memberships and online transactions.

At Touchstone, the Front Desk crew isn’t just the welcoming face of our gym; they’re the heartbeat of our community. As the first point of contact for our members and guests, they set the tone for the entire climbing experience. From greeting climbers with a smile to providing essential information and ensuring smooth operations, our front desk crew plays a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and inclusive atmosphere where climbers of all levels can thrive.

Aisle 19 is looking for an enthusiastic and friendly new team member to join our Front Desk Staff.

This is a part-time position, working no more than 30 hours per week.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring all visitors complete necessary waivers, check in and adhere to gym policies
• Making all visitors feel welcome, answering calls, and responding to emails at the front desk
• Processing memberships and online transactions
• Managing calendar reservations
• Finding creative solutions to customer service challenges, handling customer feedback and resolving any issues in a professional manner
• Selling merchandise and climbing gear in our retail shop
• Ensuring that climbing and gym safety standards are being met, giving guidance in a professional manner when needed
• Maintaining a clean gym, with no cleaning task left undone
• Support other team members and contribute to a positive team environment
• Additional opportunities to work with our communities and classes may be available in the future for interested candidates

Requirements:

• Flexible availability , including evenings and weekends (no exceptions)
• Passion for climbing and knowledge of climbing terminology and safety practices
• Ability to remain friendly and calm while managing customer needs in a variety of situations
• Highly self-directed and motivated; if you see a task that needs to be done, you do it
• Comfortable and proficient working with computers and point of sales systems
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Customer service, service industry, or office management experience is a plus but not required
• Current CPR and First Aid certification is a plus

Starting Pay is $20.00/hour. This is a part-time position, working no more than 30 hours per week and more often under 20 hours per week.Front Desk Staff individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to; facility location and type, membership volume, experience, and job/position tenure.
