Job description

Do you have excellent communication skills and experience providing outstanding customer service? The Public Utility Commission is seeking a dedicated Legal Assistant 1 to take on the role of Front Desk Receptionist and complete our team of professionals. This position serves as our main receptionist and first point of contact for the Secretary's Bureau, giving you the opportunity to greet our visitors, respond to public inquiries, and direct individuals to the appropriate personnel. As a Front Desk Receptionist in the Secretary's Bureau, this position covers the front desk and functions as the main receptionist answering all incoming calls. Duties include responding to general questions from the public, both telephonically and in person, greeting visitors, directing individuals to appropriate personnel, and accepting commission filings which are hand delivered from utilities, law firms, and members of the public. Additional responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:

  • Researching docket numbers for members of the public
  • Creating case folders
  • Maintaining supplies
  • Assisting members of the public in the use of the information kiosk
  • Assisting file clerks with administrative duties as needed
  • Maintaining weekly hearing calendar
  • Assisting the compliance and assignment section as needed

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch. Work hours are non-negotiable.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. The successful candidate is required to report to the headquarters worksite daily unless the employee meets eligibility requirements and telework has been approved. Management may discontinue any telework arrangement at any time, for any reason. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of responsible clerical, enforcement, or investigative work;
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
