Job summary

Carle Health seeks an Entryway Patient and Guest Assistant to greet patients and visitors, provide directions, and transport them within the Carle complex when needed. The role emphasizes exceptional customer service and infection-control compliance to ensure safe, welcoming experiences for all guests.

You will use the EMR for appointment and location information, assist with wayfinding, and refer visitors to appropriate departments.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to an environment of customer service excellence and patient-centered care.
• Greets and welcomes patients, visitors & Carle team members warmly.
• Interacts with the public and explains access restrictions with empathy.
• Directs patients and guests to appropriate physician, appointment or department, with information as needed.
• Checks in and prints badges for inpatient visitors or other personnel as required.
• Accompanies patients or visitors using a wheelchair when appropriate.
• Responds to ambulatory and procedural department transport requests.
• Uses the EMR to provide appointment or location information when appropriate.
• Provides telephone assistance as needed.
• Retrieves wheelchairs from all areas.
• Maintains knowledge of inpatient and ambulatory visitor guidelines.
• Explains infection prevention and visitor guidelines to patients and visitors.
• Remains knowledgeable of new physicians and specialty areas.
• Greets patients, guests, customers and employees as the first contact point.
• Ensures proper screening of patients and guests to direct to the right location for access to services.
• Provide way finding assistance.
• Assists in maintaining updated visitor guidelines.
