Ruchman and Associates, Inc. is seeking a Greeter for the National Coast Guard Museum to welcome visitors and provide a clear orientation at entry.

The role involves assisting with admission, guiding guests to galleries and amenities, distributing visitor materials, and maintaining a professional, accessible lobby while coordinating with staff on daily programs and events. Multilingual ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of customer-facing experience.
• Ability to stand and move in a busy lobby for four to six hours.
• Excellent customer-service, interpersonal communication, orientation, and wayfinding skills.
• Ability to learn museum layouts, daily schedules, tour locations, and policies.
• Professional, welcoming demeanor; multilingual ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Proactively greet every guest, distribute maps and visitor materials, and provide a short museum orientation.
• Assist with admission/check-in and manage queues during normal and high-volume periods.
• Provide directions to galleries, restrooms, elevators, lockers, cafes, tours, and other amenities.
• Coordinate with the Visitor and Event Coordinator on daily programs and changes.
• Communicate basic gallery rules, check-in policies, and prohibited items.
• Provide information about programs, events, exhibitions, and membership opportunities.
• Identify and assist visitors needing accessible routes or other accommodations.
• Maintain lobby safety, orderliness, and report concerns promptly.
• Keep reception area stocked with brochures, maps, schedules, and materials.
• Log recurring questions and feedback to improve orientation and lobby operations.
• Assist with setup/removal of signage and materials for events.
