Summary
Position in MWR Recreational Lodging operation; Fleet Readiness (N92); Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); Pacific Beach Resort. Provides front desk and reservation services to guests while maintaining the highest level of customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure security and privacy of all guests at all times.
- Maintain a welcoming manner and positive attitude; demonstrate effective communication skills; professionally interact with guests; answer questions about hotel facilities and local attractions.
- Assist in handling customer complaints, involving management as necessary.
- Use the Property Management System (PMS) to access guest information, retrieve, change or cancel reservations, and register guests.
- Verify registration information, secure a credit card for incidental expenses, and authorize card charges.
- Provide guests with room keys or card access.
- Receive and process reservations within established guidelines.
- When rooms are not available, provide a certificate of non-availability or arrange alternative lodging.
- Register and assign rooms to guests, issue keys/cards, transmit and receive messages, keep records of occupied rooms and guest accounts, make and confirm reservations, present statements, and collect payments.
- Account for change fund, prepare a close‑bank report, and deposit cash receipts at the end of each shift per established procedures.
- Inventory all keys and supplies at the front desk; keep the front desk and lobby area clean and neat.
- Run and print PMS reports such as Expected Arrivals, Departure List, In‑House Guest List, and Night Audit.
- Answer phones, transfer calls, and reply to guest inquiries.
- Log trouble calls in the PMS and notify the appropriate department.
- Relocate guests to different rooms when required.
- Retrieve lost and found items and notify guests.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a National Agency Background (NACI) Check.
- Work may include weekdays, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts, often outside normal duty hours.
- May be recalled to duty and required to work overtime, including on an emergency basis.
- Certification for front desk operations and other Lodging Career Path Guide requirements obtained within the established timeframe.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for travel to other facilities within normal scope of duties.
Qualifications
- Proficient in personal computer use and various software programs.
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle, control, and account for large amounts of cash and credit‑card transactions.
- Six months of hospitality operations experience preferred.
Additional Information
Salary is dependent on experience and/or education.
Participation in direct deposit/electronic fund transfer is required within the first 30 days of employment.
