Job description

University Retina, a full-service practice specializing in retina, vitreous, and macula diseases, is seeking a Front Desk Associate. The practice has locations in Oak Forest, Bedford Park, Lemont, and Lombard, Illinois, led by board-certified ophthalmologists and retina specialists. It is committed to education, technology, charity, and compassionate care, providing patients with the highest level of retinal treatment using state-of-the-art technology.

Role Overview

The Front Desk Associate provides exceptional patient service in person and over the phone. Responsibilities include interviewing patients or their representatives to gather demographic, financial, and insurance information for billing purposes, performing clerical duties, scheduling appointments, processing medical records requests, entering patient data, and accepting payments.

Pay Range

$17.00-$19.00/hr, commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Display professionalism and deliver superb customer service.
  • Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance and collect copays, co-insurance, and outstanding balances.
  • Ensure all patient intake forms are signed and complete.
  • Handle patient communications via phone, messaging portals, email, and fax.
  • Schedule appointments and process medical record requests.
  • Coordinate with clinical staff to ensure a positive patient experience.
Minimum Education
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Required Skills
  • At least 2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
  • At least 2 years of healthcare insurance experience.
  • Strong computer skills and a minimum typing speed of 30 WPM.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependability, organization, and professionalism.
  • Ability to learn quickly, retain training, problem-solve, and work independently.
Preferred Skills
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
