Job summary

Manufacturing Technology, Inc. (MTI) in South Bend, IN, seeks a Machine Setup Technician for the Manufacturing Services division on first shift. You will set up and operate friction welding machines, inspect parts, and support process engineers with documentation and lean initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment setting up/operating machinery.
• Ability to read and interpret part prints and drawings.
• Familiarity with basic measurement tools and gauges.
• Willingness to learn and support lean manufacturing initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate friction welding machines to produce parts per customer specifications.
• Identify, retrieve, and install fixtures and tooling for setup.
• Inspect parts with indicators, calipers, and height gauges to ensure spec conformance.
• Assist in creating work instructions and SOPs; support corrective/preventive actions.
• Maintain safe work practices and participate in lean improvement activities.
