Job summary

MTI, located in South Bend, Indiana, seeks a Machine Setup Technician for a first-shift role in Manufacturing Services. You will set up friction welding machines, load parts, inspect tolerances, and assist engineers on new processes.

The ideal candidate has a manufacturing background, reading blueprints, and a knack for problem solving. This position offers growth, safety focus, and opportunities to contribute to lean improvements in a high-tech environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to set up and operate friction welding equipment.
• Familiar with reading part prints.
• Able to use hand tools and measuring equipment.
• Willing to learn and contribute to lean manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Work safely and use PPE.
• Perform fixture and chuck changeovers and alignments.
• Maintain welders and tooling.
• Load/unload parts and inspect with measuring tools.
• Create or update work instructions and SOPs.
• Support process engineers on R&D jobs.
• Move parts between areas using forklift.
• Communicate with team and supervisors.
• Contribute to safety, quality, and culture.
• Participate in continuous improvement and corrective actions.
