Job summary

ShopRite in Brooklawn, NJ is seeking a Seafood Clerk to maintain the Seafood Department and provide excellent customer service. You will prepare and pack fresh and frozen seafood according to department standards, ensuring freshness, safety, and accurate pricing.

The role requires reading and speaking English, ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and the stamina to stand and perform duties for long shifts. The job emphasizes safety, friendliness, presentation, and efficiency as core priorities.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand English.
• Ability to work with a variety of seafood and related merchandise.
• Ability to tolerate dust and chemical agents during housekeeping.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, reach, push, pull and regularly lift 25lbs., and occasionally lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to work all assigned work schedules and comply with all time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers with prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Follow procedures for receiving, dating, preparing, storing, price-marking, scaling, and restocking products.
• Differentiate between seafood varieties and advise on preparation and pricing.
• Contribute to controlling freshness and quality of product.
• Check refrigeration equipment and report any failures.
• Record invoices and verify accuracy.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Clean and sanitize surfaces and equipment.
• Adhere to QA, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Dress according to policy and wear required PPE.
