Job summary

Eataly in California seeks a Fresh Market Manager to lead Cheese & Salumi and Fish & Meat, supervising department leaders and staff. You will report to the Manager, Store Operations and drive profitability while upholding guest experience and quality standards.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree, 4+ years in retail management, strong communication, and inventory/financial analysis skills. Smithfield-store style, health standards, and culinary collaboration are part of the role.

Responsibilities

• Organize and direct the store’s fresh departments to maximize profitability while upholding standards.
• Manage the fresh counter leaders: hires, schedules, trains, motivates, payroll, evaluations.
• Ensure counters and displays are visually appealing and merchandised effectively.
• Analyze financial data and develop strategies to drive sales and profitability.
• Collaborate with culinary team to meet store needs for retail and restaurants.
• Requisitions and purchases to maximize profit and reduce waste.
• Supervise cleaning/maintenance per health standards and arrange repairs.
• Document, investigate, escalate and resolve incidents.

Job Description

Eataly’s bustling marketplaces feature a rich variety of unique, high-quality Italian and local products. The Fresh Market Manager oversees the fresh departments: Cheese & Salumi and Fish & Meat. Oversees the fresh counter managers, leads and staff. Reports directly to the Manager, Store Operations.

• Organizes and directs the store’s fresh departments to maximize profitability while upholding the company’s mission, values, quality and guest experience standards and policies
• Manages the fresh counter leaders: hires, schedules, trains, motivates, submits payroll, evaluates, terminates
• Ensures counters and displays are visually appealing and merchandized effectively
• Analyzes financial data and develops strategies to drive sales and increase profitability and efficiencies
• Works closely with the culinary and kitchen team to ensure that production consistently meets the store’s needs for retail, quick service and restaurants
• Requisitions and purchases food, beverage, supplies and equipment to maximize profit and reduce waste
• Supervises cleaning and maintenance of equipment and counters according to Department of Health standards, and arranges repairs, contracts and other services when needed
• Documents, investigates, escalates and resolves employee and guest incidents
• Performs other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 4+ years of retail management experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Business management and financial analysis skills
• Experience purchasing and managing inventory
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Italian fresh products preferred

The annual salary for this role ranges from $75,000k-85,000k.
